The Bargach Foundation
The Bargach Foundation was set up in July 2020 with the objective of bettering the lives of individuals from the weaker sections of society. Three critical areas have been identified that the Foundation will focus on – Drinking water, Sanitation and Skill upliftment. The Foundation will work in the semi-urban and rural geographies in Eastern and North East India.

We shall both educate and assist identified individuals in undertaking projects linked to these above mentioned focus areas. The Bargach Foundation have already partnered with like-minded entities who have similar objectives. It may act as the implementation force for socially-conscious organisations.

We believe that Skill upliftment will have a permanent benefit in improving the quality of life. The Foundation will devise and conduct training programmes for skills that are seen as value-additions in the professional world.

Our Motto
Over 80% of the population in our country resides in semi-urban and rural geographies. The quality of life remains sub-optimal due to lack of basic hygiene and access to drinking water. Individuals are forced to divert their earnings and personal savings towards hospitalisation/medical treatment caused due to improper sanitation standards.

The 4 trustees of Bargach Foundation came together to collectively address these issues. With cumulative work experience of 100+ years in areas ranging between banking, microfinance to interior designing, the trustees intend to transfer their learnings on process & standardisation from the professional world towards making an impact for the weaker sections.
During the course of their travels into the interiors, the trustees agreed that the 3 chosen objectives had the potential to alleviate the communities in villages and small-sized towns.

Message From the Chairman
Bargach Foundation, as a responsible corporate citizen, believes that good sanitation, hygiene and skill enhancement will alleviate the quality of lives of the underprivileged.
The Year was 2006 – Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank were awarded the Noble Peace Prize for their pioneering efforts ‘through micro-credit to create economic and social development from below’. The Norwegian Noble Committee also commented that lasting peace cannot be achieved unless large population groups across cultures and civilisations find ways to break out of poverty. Grameen Bank has funded millions to take the entrepreneurial route to come onto the path of better lives.

Over the last 2 decades, the Microfinance Industry has continued to enhance the lives of the weaker sections of society. The idea of social impact through the Bargach Foundation had its beginnings in the noble work of the Microfinance Industry.

I was fortunate to connect with my fellow trustees Anisha Johri, Prasanta Kumar Sahu and Sumit Hans on a shared vision. We discovered that we share a common passion to better the quality of lives in communities in villages and small towns. We realised that hygiene and drinking water challenges were acting as barriers in breaking out of poverty. Through the Bargach Foundation, we will educate and also implement projects on sanitation and drinking water. Our dedicated staff will undertake this developmental work across villages. Skill enhancement will make a difference in the employability of people which will result in improved incomes.
Our dream is that we make a lasting impact in enhancing the quality of lives in semi-urban and rural India.

We call on your support and good wishes to build strong and healthy communities.

Thanking you
Warm Regards
Rahul Johri
